Hlyd Monath

Hyld monath – Anglo Saxon for “stormy month” in otherwords: March

I think it was in The Autobiography of King Henry the VIII that I read “HRH” musing that March and November were the ugliest months. I have to agree.  I guess it proves that we are, all of us, capable of some observations at the very least in between our more questionable acts. Unlike November where there is some charm of anticipating a potential winter wonderland, unspoiled of course by the reality of a winter slushy wasteland, March is nothing more than stark weariness. The only thing I like is the quiet bleakness that abounds. I find myself impatient with images of uber-beautiful settings and horizons. I just can’t help swallowing a wee bit of disgust at a gorgeous sunrise. Yes yes, it’s all very beautiful, I’m just not in the mood. Meanwhile it’s March.  I am at least “one” with the season. Maybe that bodes well for the upcoming spring…
